From Script to Screen: Producing the BI QRIS Campaign

Every meaningful campaign starts with a question. Ours was simple: “How can we make digital payments feel human, friendly, and fun?”
That question became the heartbeat of our collaboration with Bank Indonesia – North Sumatra, as we set out to create a campaign that would introduce QRIS to a broader audience through animation.
Laying the Foundation: Concept & Scriptwriting
We began by developing a clear narrative that felt both educational and entertaining. The concept of Kris & Ipay—two animated characters navigating daily life with QRIS—was born out of the need to turn abstract financial tools into something audiences could relate to.
With the storyline in place, our writers crafted scripts focused on everyday experiences: paying for food, transportation, and market goods. These moments were chosen because they reflect real use cases of QRIS in local communities. Simplicity, clarity, and a touch of humor were our guiding lights.
Designing the Visual World
Once the script was locked, our visual team stepped in. Character design, environment art, and color palettes were all customized to reflect North Sumatran culture. We wanted the animation to feel local, not generic—something that would resonate with both younger viewers and adults alike.
From the look of traditional markets to the behavior of the characters, we made sure every frame carried visual cues that felt familiar. This helped bridge the gap between a national financial tool and the people who would use it most.
Production and Final Touches
Our animation team brought Kris & Ipay to life using a blend of 2D motion graphics and character-driven scenes. Timing, expressions, and transitions were refined to keep the pace engaging and emotionally resonant. We layered in voiceovers, sound effects, and upbeat music to maintain a cheerful tone throughout the video.
As always, we worked closely with the client to ensure accuracy—whether it was in how QRIS works or how it should be visually represented. The result was a polished, engaging animation that delivers both clarity and charm.

By turning technical information into visual storytelling, we helped Bank Indonesia deliver a message that sticks. From script to screen, this campaign was proof that the right production approach can make even complex topics feel simple and accessible.
